Moves That Matter
This page is dedicated to the work we do in the local community. It’s our home, and yours. We are committed to making it a great place to live and grow up.
Making every move count
At Simmons & Son, we believe that selling homes should also help strengthen the community we live in. That’s why we created #MovesThatMatter—our pledge to give back locally.
Each month, we donate £100 to a community project, charity, or initiative making a real difference to people’s lives. From charity runs and food bank donations to sponsoring school events and community hubs, we’re proud to play our part.
We’re not only the cornerstone of Slough’s property market—we’re also your neighbours, friends, and fellow residents. Supporting local causes is one more way we show how much we care about our area. If you’d like to nominate a group or good cause close to your heart, we’d love to hear from you. Pop into our Farnham Road office and ask about Moves That Matter—together, we can keep making moves that count. Here are a few examples of how we’ve helped.
St Mary’s Farnham Royal Primary School open air cinema
We supported St Mary’s with an outdoor cinema, complete with popcorn for the children and a donation to upgrade the playground. It was extra special for our Sales Director, Amy West who is a former pupil at the school. Amy said, “It was lovely to go back and visit and make a contribution to a school that is close to our hearts. I even met up with one of my teachers, Mr Farmer which was great fun!”.
VE Day afternoon teas at Burnham Park Hall
To mark VE Day, we provided beautifully packaged afternoon tea boxes complete with fresh sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jam, and fresh fruit for locals gathering at Burnham Park Hall. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect, connect, and share stories over cakes, tea, and conversation. A simple gesture that brought our community together in the true spirit of remembrance, gratitude, and shared history.
Farnham Common Community Hub
The Farnham Common Hub is a much-loved space for weekly meet-ups, offering connection, conversation, and refreshments for all ages. We were proud to support the Hub through Moves That Matter, helping ensure it remains a welcoming place for everyone in the community.
Slough Foodbank donation
Foodbanks make a huge difference to communities throughout the UK. Our donation to Slough Foodbank helped provide essentials for local families and individuals facing hardship. Supporting the Foodbank reflects what Moves That Matter is all about—standing by our neighbours when they need it most.
Burnham Park Hall Christmas Market
We proudly sponsored the Burnham Park Hall Christmas Market and Light Switch On, hosting a bustling Simmons & Son stall filled with festive sweets, branded balloons, and our trademark Buddy the Elf cutouts that proved a huge hit with families! Despite the weather moving celebrations indoors, the atmosphere was sparkling with live choir performances, handbells, a visit to Santa’s Grotto, real reindeer outside, and the announcement of our colouring competition winner, Alice. It was a wonderful community tradition to support and the perfect way to kick off the festive season.
The Easter egg hunt
We organised a 5km Easter Egg Hunt across local parks, including Farnham Park and Barnham Park, encouraging families to get outdoors, explore our beautiful green spaces and have fun. With hidden eggs and surprises along the way, it was a brilliant day! Our bright For Sale boards received an extra splash of colour with numbered Easter egg board toppers that marked the way along the 5km trail. We were thrilled to see so many fantastic photographs of children and families taking part, capturing their walk by the For Sale boards and collecting Easter egg prizes in our office afterwards. A fab day that we’re sure to repeat!
Chloe’s sky dive for MND
Our Senior Sales Negotiator, Chloe, bravely jumped from a plane in memory of her grandad, raising over £4,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease charity. We proudly supported her through Moves That Matter—a true example of courage, compassion, and community spirit.
Cippenham Royal British Legion
Elf on the Move
For the festive season, we launched our community-wide “Elf on the Move” trail! We hid cheeky holiday elves on special board toppers attached to our “For Sale” boards out in the local streets. Families and children wrapped up warm to track them down, share their daily good deeds, and snap a photo along the trail. Afterwards, little explorers popped into our Farnham Road office to collect their well-earned festive treats by our Christmas tree. It was a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer, encourage a bit of outdoor fun, and celebrate acts of kindness across our community all December long!
